The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art
Florida's official state art museum: a circus mogul's art collection, his mansion, and his circus, on one campus.
John Ringling left his circus fortune to Florida in the form of this complex: the state's official art museum since 1927, his 56-room Venetian Gothic mansion Ca' d'Zan on Sarasota Bay, and the Circus Museum with its 44,000-piece Howard Bros. Circus Model.

Ca' d'Zan
John and Mable Ringling's 56-room winter palace, finished in 1926 on the edge of Sarasota Bay.
John Ringling built a 36,000-square-foot, 56-room Mediterranean revival mansion and filled it with the Roaring Twenties; architect Dwight James Baum finished it in 1926 after two years of construction. This was the Ringlings' winter residence and the social hub of 1920s Sarasota, and it still sits on the bay it was built to show off. Admission bundles the whole Ringling estate.
🗝️ Insider: Do Ca' d'Zan first thing, then retreat to the air-conditioned galleries when the afternoon heat lands.

Beer Can Island
Driftwood skeletons, anchored boats, and zero buildings on Longboat Key's walk-in-or-boat-in north tip.
Dead trees and piled driftwood line Longboat Key's north tip — herons and egrets use them as perches while boats anchor just offshore. No restrooms, vendors, or lifeguards; you walk in from the Broadway boardwalk, about 0.8 miles, or arrive by boat. Sea turtles nest in the dunes all summer. Seven hundred reviewers made the trek and call it 4.8.
🗝️ Insider: During fall migration, check the bayside mangroves — warblers shelter there after crossing the Gulf.

Public Beach - 100 Broadway
Thirty-one spaces and a boardwalk to north Longboat sand — plus the walking route to Greer Island.
Thirty-one parking spaces and a short boardwalk put you on north-end sand the town keeps deliberately quiet — no lifeguards, no alcohol, no pets, no vendors. It doubles as the walk-in trailhead for Greer Island, and the state health department samples water quality right at this access. Three hundred twenty reviewers rate the quiet at 4.8.
🗝️ Insider: This is the closest legal parking to Beer Can Island; walk the shoreline north about 0.8 miles.

Sarasota Jungle Gardens
Hand-feeding its free-roaming flamingo flock — the signature attraction — plus daily animal shows across a compact 1930s jungle garden.
One of Florida's oldest continuously operating attractions, where the signature move is hand-feeding a flock of free-roaming flamingos, backed by daily wildlife, bird, and reptile shows — a genuine slice of vintage Florida.
🗝️ Insider: Plan around the show clock — Wildlife Wonder at 11am and 1pm, Jungle Bird at noon, Reptiles at 3pm. If you want the hands-on parrot, macaw, and alligator encounters (about $5 per person each), buy a "Superfeed" bag, which covers them.
