Use Bayfront Park as the practical base for a mixed group. The town lists a playground, sports courts, picnic tables and restrooms beside Sarasota Bay. It is the better fit when some people want activity and others want a seated break. This is Longboat Key's park at 4052 Gulf of Mexico Drive, not the similarly named waterfront park in downtown Sarasota.
