Hyatt Regency Orlando

This is a mega convention hotel first and a vacation base second, and it doesn't pretend otherwise. If you're here for a trade show at the OCCC, it's unbeatable: you never step outside, never hail a car, never fight I-Drive traffic. For a theme-park family it works too since it's a short drive to Universal, SeaWorld, and Disney, plus a genuinely good pool complex with a grotto, waterslide, and rooftop deck that stays surprisingly uncrowded, but understand you're trading walk-to-the-gate convenience for scale and a better points redemption.

Rates swing with the convention calendar more than the weather. Check the OCCC event schedule and book weeks when no major show overlaps your stay, and lean toward summer, when Orlando heat softens both crowds and prices.

Book on Hyatt points if you can. Award stays have waived the resort fee, and this property routinely returns well over 2 cents per point, softening the fee sting. Ask for a high floor in the newer expansion tower for skyline views.
